Stocks slipped Tuesday morning as investors eyed slumping world markets, a stronger dollar, weaker oil and gold prices and ho-hum profit news from 3M and McDonald's.
The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) tumbled 120 points, or 1.2%, in the early going. The S&P 500 index (SPX) lost 13 points, or 1.2%. The Nasdaq composite (COMP) shed 25 points, or 1.2%.
